In order to use this ToolKit, you need a Macintosh with at least 1 megabyte of memory, Macintosh System 4.2 or later and HyperCard. The ToolKit is a two disk set that includes all the additional software you need to start using and creating HyperCard videodisc applications.
To get started, open the stack called Videodisc Stack; it contains an overview of the ToolKit and connects you to all the other parts.
A hard disk is strongly recommended. If you have a hard disk, copy the contents of both Videodisc ToolKit discs into a single folder on the hard disk.
The HyperCard Videodisc ToolKit includes the following files:
Disc #1:
• Read Me First! — this document (TeachText format).
• Print Me - Introductory material and a list of the HyperTalk videodisc
commands you can print out for hardcopy reference (MacWrite format).
• TeachText — the TeachText application.
• Videodisc Stack — an introduction stack to interactive video; this is
where you should start to learn about interactive video and HyperCard.
• Videodisc Commands — a complete list of the HyperTalk videodisc
commands.
• Index Stack — a videodisc indexing tool.
• ResCopy — a resource copier which makes it easy to install the resources
necessary for HyperCard to control a videodisc player. ResCopy works
like Font/DA Mover.
• Notebook — a collection of useful company addresses related to using and
creating interactive videodisc presentations.
Disc #2:
• Video Tips — a collection of tips on the limitations and best uses of the
interactive video facilities included in this ToolKit.
• Advanced Material — documentation and source code for programmers who
want to write their own videodisc player driver or talk directly to the
driver through the serial port of the Macintosh.
• NASA Stack — an example interactive video stack.
• Presentation Maker — a tool which makes it easy to set up and play any
number of videodisc segments.
